Corrections Policy
Corrections Policy for Stake: who writes the pages, how facts are checked, how errors are fixed, what the criteria weigh and how to report an error.
In short
If you spot a wrong fact about Stake on this site, report it. The page is rechecked against the brand's own published material, then corrected and dated. Small slips are fixed quietly. Changes that affect a player's decision, such as a bonus rule or a payment method, get a visible note on the page.
Who writes and edits these pages
This site is an editorial guide to Stake for players in Nigeria. Every page carries a named author, a role and three dates: published, updated and checked. The published date never moves. The updated date changes only when the text really changes, and the checked date shows the last time someone compared the page with the source material.
The editorial team is small on purpose. One person drafts a page, a second person reads it against the sources before it goes live, and the same two people handle correction requests afterwards. That keeps accountability simple: if a number is wrong, there is no doubt about who fixes it and how fast it gets done.
Each card shows the author's name, role and the topics covered. A profile link appears only for experts who have agreed to be named in writing.
- Name and editorial role of the author
- Topics the person covers on the site
- Date of the last source check
- Profile link, only with the expert's written consent
The brand we write about is Stake, a casino and sportsbook operated by Medium Rare N.V., a Curaçao company holding Curaçao Gaming Authority licence OGL/2024/1451/0918. We write about the brand and do not speak for it. For the main overview of the casino, start from the Stake Casino page.

Verification protocol
Corrections are rare when the first draft is careful, so most of the work happens before publication. Every page follows the same six-step protocol. The goal is simple: each statement about Stake must trace back to a line in a source that the brand or a regulator published itself, and anything that cannot be traced stays out of the text.
-
1
Collect the sources
Pull the brand's terms, help centre articles and the regulator's register entry before any writing starts.
-
2
Separate fact from claim
Mark each statement as a confirmed fact, a figure that depends on the region, or something not published.
-
3
Check the region
Confirm that a rule, currency or payment method applies to Nigeria and not only to another country.
-
4
Write only what is confirmed
Details that are not published stay out of the text instead of being guessed.
-
5
Second read
A second editor compares every number and name with its source line.
-
6
Date the page
The checked date is set only after the comparison is finished.
Nigerian players often meet offers and payment lists copied from other countries. For that reason the region check is a separate step. Amounts appear in naira (₦) only when the brand publishes them in naira. Otherwise we describe the rule in words and do not convert figures from another currency.
How we fix errors
Not every error is equal, so not every fix looks the same. We sort reports into four types. The type decides whether the page gets a visible note, whether the updated date moves and how much of the surrounding text is rechecked.
Typos and wording
Spelling, grammar and unclear phrasing are fixed straight away. The meaning does not change, so there is no note on the page.
Wrong facts
A name, number or rule that does not match the source is corrected, the updated date moves and a short note explains the change.
Outdated details
When the brand changes a rule, the whole section is rechecked, not just the one line, and the checked date is renewed.
Misleading framing
Text that is technically true but could push a wrong decision is rewritten, even if no single number was wrong.
-
1
Report received
A reader sends the page address and the line they think is wrong.
-
2
Source recheck
The editor opens the original source and compares it with the line.
-
3
Decision
The report is sorted into one of the four types above.
-
4
Fix and note
The text is corrected, and a dated note is added where the change matters to players.
-
5
Reply to the reader
The person who reported the issue gets a written answer saying what changed or why nothing did.
A report that turns out to be wrong still gets an answer with the source line attached. Disagreeing with the wording of a rule is not an error, but we are happy to explain where the wording comes from. Corrections are never hidden by deleting the old version without a trace when the change affects money, limits or eligibility.
Criteria and weights
Before a page goes live, and again whenever it is rechecked, it is scored on four criteria. The weights below add up to 100. They show what we care about most: where the information comes from comes before how nicely it is written.
Weights of the four page criteria, out of 100.
Source quality: every fact traces to the brand's own material or a regulator's register
Regional fit: the rule, currency and payment method really apply to Nigeria
Freshness: the checked date is recent and the details match the current terms
Clarity: a player can act on the text without guessing what a term means
A page that scores low on source quality is held back or reopened no matter how well it does on the other three criteria. The total is always calculated from the four parts above, never entered by hand.
Before and after: examples of corrections
The table shows the kind of change this policy covers. These are typical wrong versions of facts about the brand and what the checked version says instead. Each row was settled by the brand's own published material or by the regulator's register.
| Topic | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Regulator name | Curaçao eGaming | Curaçao Gaming Authority |
| Licence reference | Generic claim | Register number |
| Operator | Brand name only | Medium Rare N.V. |
| Welcome offer | Fixed percentage | Affiliate offer code |
| Offer value | Unsourced sum | 3.5% rakeback |
The licence number in the register is OGL/2024/1451/0918. Stake does not publish a public welcome percentage. New players redeem the welcome offer with an offer code supplied by affiliates, and the help centre describes it as access to 3.5% rakeback of the house edge on every game played.
Old regulator names are a common source of confusion. Curaçao eGaming was the earlier name of the regulator, which is now the Curaçao Gaming Authority, so we use the current name everywhere. When a detail cannot be confirmed in any published source, the right correction is to remove it, not to replace it with a different guess.
Contacts and how to report an error
To report an error on this site, use the contact details given on the About page. Send the address of the page, copy the line you believe is wrong and, if you can, add the place where you saw the correct information. A clear report is usually settled much faster than a general complaint.

Questions about your own Stake account are a different matter, because we cannot see or change anything there. Stake lists live chat, available 24/7 once you are logged in, as its support channel. If your question is about an offer, our Stake Promo Code page explains how the welcome offer works. For tools that help you stay in control of play, see Stake Responsible Gambling.
Corrections policy questions
What counts as an error on this site?
Anything that does not match the source it came from: a wrong name, number, date or rule. It also covers outdated details and wording that could mislead a player, even if each single fact is technically right. Differences of opinion about style or emphasis are not errors, but you can still send them.
How do I report an error?
Use the contact details on the About page. Include the page address, the exact line you think is wrong and, if you have it, a link to the correct information. The more precise the report, the quicker the editor can compare it with the original source and reply.
Will the page show that it was corrected?
It depends on the type. Typos are fixed without a note. Factual corrections move the updated date and carry a short note, especially when the change touches bonus rules, payment methods or eligibility. The published date never changes, so you can always see how old the page is.
What do the three dates on each page mean?
Published is the day the page first went live and stays fixed. Updated changes only when the text is really edited. Checked shows the last time an editor compared the page with the sources, even if nothing needed changing. A recent checked date with an older updated date means the page was reviewed and still holds.
Why are some amounts missing in naira?
We show a ₦ amount only when the brand publishes it in naira. Figures taken from another currency or another country's terms are not converted, because the conversion could be wrong or the rule may not apply to Nigeria. In those cases the page describes the rule in words.
Do the author cards show real people?
Cards show the editorial authors who work on the site. A named expert with a profile link appears only after giving written consent. Without that consent, no outside person's name or profile is used. Every card states the author's role, the topics covered and the date of the last check.
